Verdura to host Buccellati Invitational Pro-Am for fourth successive year

Verdura Resort
Professionals and amateurs from across Europe will head to Sicily’s deluxe Verdura Resort at the end of next month to take part in the prestigious fourth edition of the Buccellati Invitational Pro-Am.
It will be the fourth year in a row that the competition has been hosted by the top European resort and this year’s event is a sell-out, with 36 teams competing for the chance to lift the prized Sir Rocco Forte trophy from October 29 to November 1.

Teams from France, Switzerland, Russia and the UK will join players from the host nation at the 36-hole event, which will be held on Verdura’s two 18-hole championship courses – the East and West.

Top Italian professionals Alessandro Tadini, Massimo Florioli and Isabella Maconi and France’s Cassandra Kirkland are set to feature in the select field alongside key figures from the business and golfing world  as they enjoy four days of fun at the award-winning resort, with all this year’s winners being presented with individual, hand-crafted silver shells thanks to main sponsors Buccellati.

The Buccellati family said: “We’re delighted to be returning to the beautiful resort of Verdura for the fourth successive year. The pro-am continues to go from strength to strength with eight more teams taking part than last year, and the resort has everything needed for a golf event full of fun and relaxation in equal measure.”

Set in 230 hectares of stunning landscape, Verdura – a Rocco Forte hotel and host to the European Tour’s 2012 Sicilian Open – offers everything needed for a five-star golf break and features a par-three nine hole course as well as two outstanding championship layouts.

Designed by world-renowned architect Kyle Phillips, the three links-style layouts have been built to the highest specifications, with tee times arranged at 12-minute intervals to ensure free-flowing play, five sets of tees making the courses playable for golfers of all abilities and one of its courses dedicated daily to two-ball play only.

Complementing the courses are extensive practice facilities including a double-ended driving range and excellent golf academy, while players can also take advantage of the latest state-of-the-art TaylorMade equipment when they hire clubs at the resort after a significant upgrade of its rental service this summer.

Verdura has won widespread recognition across the luxury global travel industry since opening in 2009 with honours including a ‘Golden Award for Golf‘ at the 2015 Voyages & Hôtels Readers Awards and being named ‘Best Family European Golf Resort‘ by the 2011 Tatler Travel Guide. Most recently, its East Course was included in Golf World’s benchmark Top 100 Courses in Continental Europe rankings.

Situated on Sicily’s southern coast between Agrigento and the fishing city of Sciacca, an 80-minute drive from Trapani and Palermo airports, the resort features 203 rooms and suites – all with a sea view. Away from the fairways, guests can enjoy numerous other sports and leisure facilities including six tennis courts, a 60m two-tiered infinity pool, a 170sqm fully-equipped gym and an award-winning 4,000sqm spa complex.
