EEF Venues takes the green route

Woodland Grange, Leamington Spa
EEF Venues has gained ISO14001 certification across its three AIM Gold accredited venues: Woodland Grange (Leamington Spa), Engineers’ House (Bristol) and Broadway House (Westminster).   This internationally recognised standard relates to management systems that control the impact a company has on its environment, and covers such issues as minimising waste, the use of raw materials and energy, reducing pollution and improving efficiency.

David Vaughton, director of venues for EEF Venues, said:” ISO14001 certification provides a framework for environmental management best practice right across our three venues. It is vital that our clients and prospective clients understand and have confidence in our business practices.

“This latest certification across the group clearly demonstrates our commitment to reducing waste and recycling and sends a strong message to our clients and delegates that we consistently monitor, measure and act to reduce our carbon footprint.”

All three venues operate a robust recycle, reuse, reduce policy. For example, 100% of food waste from Woodland Grange and Broadway House is removed for anaerobic digestion locally and 90% of waste cooking oil is recycled into bio-diesel. Lighting throughout the venues has been designed to conserve energy, with diffusers, LED lighting systems, dimmer stitches and PIR sensors in use.

David Vaughton said: ”Energy conservation has the largest impact on the environment so at Woodland Grange, our residential venue in Leamington Spa, we carefully control this with an integrated building management system, covering issues such as energy, lighting, boiler efficiency audits, movement sensors, maximum water temperature control and water conservation practices.”

This latest achievement comes just months after EEF Venues attained occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) 18001 certification across its three venues.
