"Classic Van & Pickup Show" - celebrating 50 years of the Ford Transit

The Classic Van & Pickup Show is to return for a second year to the Heritage Motor Centre on Sunday 9 August. The show, which is dedicated to light commercial vehicles including pickups, ice-cream vans, campers, taxi’s, hearses and police cars, will also incorporate the Transit Van Clubs annual Rally which takes place on the 8 & 9 August. This is the 9th year of the Transit Van Club Rally at Gaydon and the 50th anniversary of the Ford Transit going into production.

Around 600 vehicles including those from The Transit Van Club, The Post Office Vehicle Club and the Classic Hearse Register are expected to take part. These vehicles will appear alongside the Morris J Type Register and the Morris Commercial Club. All classic light commercial vehicles including custom street vans are welcome, no matter what the make or their condition.

The Transit Van Club Rally will take place over the weekend and celebrate 50 years of the Ford Transit. The Rally will feature a full cinema show with historic Transit films and adverts from the past 50 years plus on Saturday there will be driving games, seminars, trophies and dash plaques.

Tom Caren, Show Manager for the Heritage Motor Centre stated “It’s great to hold both of these Light Commercial Vehicle shows on the same weekend as they are a great fit together. All vans are welcome, whether it’s a classic or a custom van. Visiting both events is a great way to meet likeminded people and if you’re looking for technical help, then the club members will be on hand to help”.

Tickets for the Show & Rally cost £12 for adults, £8 for children and £34 for a family.  Discounted tickets are available in advance online. Camping costs £25 per pitch for one night or £34 per pitch for 2 nights in advance or £40 on the day.
