The Point turns 5 this week

Emirates Old Trafford’s award-winning, multi-purpose conference and events venue, The Point celebrates its 5th birthday on 27 June, after successfully hosting hundreds of corporate events in its short history.
The £12 million venue, which was completed in 2010, has become the go-to conference and events facility in North West England, helping Emirates Old Trafford claim top honours at the prestigious Visit England Awards for Excellence 2014. 

The events venue offers state-of-the-art facilities for conferences, exhibitions, meetings, dinners, parties and weddings, and has received high praise for its sustainability and environmental awareness.

In its short history, The Point has hosted some truly memorable events – including conferences, charity dinners and pop concerts – with thousands of delegates enjoying the centre’s modern, innovative facilities.

Upon its launch, The Point hosted a lavish party, with Manchester’s world-famous Halle Orchestra performing in front of an audience of A-listers during the venue’s grand unveiling. The evening was topped off with a dazzling firework display and was praised as a ‘night to remember’ by many departing guests.

In 2012, The Point proved perfect for Fashion Kicks organisers Shay and Jane Given, whose football-meets-fashion event raised £200,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The evening saw hundreds of famous-faces descend on The Point for an extravagant dinner, as well as a special charity performance by Irish boy band, Westlife.

The venue was thrust into the limelight once more in 2014, after the first round of judges auditions for ITV’s The X Factor were filmed at The Point. The show’s judges – including Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Mel B – were granted access to The Point’s stunning facilities, where thousands of singers took to the infamous ‘X’ to sing for their place on the show.
