Record breaking Taiwan now ranked 4th in Asia with 145 Meetings

Taiwan is proudly celebrating a new global position moving up six places to 28th in the world’s country/region rankings and 4th in Asia according to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
This is the highest ICCA ranking for Taiwan since 2010, and the number of association meetings in Taiwan has also turned out to be a historical record breaker.

As for city rankings, the year 2014 is a fruitful year for cities in Taiwan. Having hosted 92 ICCA-recognized international association meetings in 2014, the capital city of Taipei remains one of the most popular meeting destinations in Asia, only behind Singapore, Beijing, Seoul, and Hong Kong. The second largest city in Taiwan, the southern harbor city of Kaohsiung, attracted 23 meetings and was crowned 17th in the Asian city ranking, which is the city’s highest ever position.

There are more cities in Taiwan contributing to the 2014 record breaking statistics -- Taichung, Hsinchu, and Tainan kept their rankings, while Yilan, Pingtung, Chiayi , Taoyuan, and Hualien have seen a steady rise in association meetings that are qualified by ICCA criteria over the past few years.

The MEET TAIWAN program, organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, is dedicated to offering tailor-made services for the bidding of international conferences, cultivates bidding capabilities of local Taiwan cities, attracts international conferences to Taiwan with local NGOs, and promotes Taiwan as a prime meeting destination. Government efforts, along with the MEET TAIWAN program, and in cooperation with local NGOs, has made year 2014 one of the most successful years in Taiwan’s meetings history.
