Countdown begins to the opening of Belfast Waterfront’s 4,000sqm extension

Belfast Waterfront extension
With fewer than 350 days until Belfast Waterfront opens the doors to its 4,000m2 extension, Team Belfast is geared up to welcome an influx of international business travellers to one of Europe’s up and coming business destinations. Northern Ireland’s capital city is wonderfully compact and travelling to Belfast couldn’t be easier with two major airports serving the region – one of which is only 10mins from the heart of the city.

Undeniably, the investment of over a billion pounds over the last decade has transformed Belfast into a vibrant and happening city that will stir the imagination and appeal to a wide range of delegates.

With news spreading fast that one of the world’s best convention centres will soon feature double the events space, already 50 national and international events are lined up to be among the first to benefit from the new enhanced multi-purpose spaces. Among these are IMEKO (International Measurement Confederation) World Congress and World Council of Credit Unions Annual Global Conference.

Building upon Belfast Waterfront’s existing versatility and solid reputation for excellence in customer service, the new 4,000m2 development opening in Spring 2016 will wow event organisers with even more choice and greater flexibility than before.

The new Waterfront development will excel technically, offering the kind of flexible space and facilities that event organisers these days demand.

“Gone are the days when an exhibition meant a series of uniform stands,” says Geoff Fenlon, Interim Managing Director at Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre.

“Nowadays, organisers want live vehicles, they want living exhibits, we’ve even seen complete operating theatres being created for medical events. In less than 350 days we’re going to have a brand new world-class conference centre in the heart of one of Europe’s most exciting cities that will offer the right kind of access and the right facilities for whatever event organisers might want. We want their events to be the big fish in our pond - to afford event organisers optimum stand-out in our venue, raising their profile and maximising their reach in the international market place. Designed with conference organisers for organisers, Belfast Waterfront is the perfect fit in the perfect city.”

In a prime position on the edge of the River Lagan, the extension will seamlessly integrate with the existing centre and will feature two conference and exhibition halls boasting a total of 2,500m2 flat floor space, plus 3 additional meeting rooms for up to 200 delegates and exterior terraces with stunning riverside views.

Together with the existing 2,000 seat auditorium, 380 seat studio and 14 meeting rooms, the enhanced venue has already encouraged a number of associations to choose Belfast as their host city for the first time as well as facilitate return business from many events.

Designed with the customer in mind, each floor will offer stylish and flexible spaces fitted to a high specification to create the perfect meeting place for delegates to network, learn and share.

With 50 international and national event bookings under their belt, the team at Belfast Waterfront continues to up the ante by showcasing its new world class conference facilities at IMEX Frankfurt from 19 to 21 May 2015. And based on the level of interest already received at Confex International in London in February this year, Belfast Waterfront is sure to stand out.

As a key sponsor of the Hosted Buyer Lounge, both buyers as well as visitors to ‘Meet in Ireland’ Stand F420 will see at first hand the new and enhanced spaces available from Spring 2016 come to life in a 3D flythrough as well as receive up-to-the-minute news about the construction programme.

Belfast Waterfront enjoys an outstanding reputation for its quality service, award-winning facilities and flexible space. And the opening of its fabulous extension in 2016 will continue to raise the bar in conferencing facilities.

Visitors to Stand F420 can come and see how you can be a “big fish” in Belfast!
