Taking place on 14th and 15th April, Pro retail will be returning once-again to The International Centre Telford, and will see hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of convenience, forecourt and CTN retailers descend on the region for the two day event.
Sarah Bird, Business Tourism Manager for Meet Telford & Shropshire, the official convention bureau for the region, said: “Telford has been the host of Pro retail for 21 years, which is not only a huge milestone, but fantastic recognition of the event offer we have here in the region. The events industry has changed over the past two decades, but by continually investing and enhancing our offer in line with the changing needs of our customers, we have developed loyal and long-standing relationships with some of the UK’s biggest event organisers.”
During its 21 years in Telford, the event has grown from 3000sqm to a mammoth 13,000sqm, and has attracted more than 147,000 visitors to the region, equating to £49,518,000 spent within the local economy.
Now in its 33rd year, Pro retail offers visitors the unique opportunity to try new products and concepts, network with like-minded visitors, and find out more about the benefits of convenience retail.
Rory Brick, Head of Channel Development at Palmer and Harvey, the UK’s number one delivered wholesaler responsible for the event, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be marking 21 years in Telford, which just so happens to coincide with our 90th year in business. The Telford community have made Palmer and Harvey and our guests feel very welcome over the last 21 years.”
Sarah continued: “Telford is fast cementing its reputation as a leading UK Convention Quarter, and recent investment – including Telford & Wrekin Council’s new Southwater Development and additional upgrades which are currently taking place in the area – have been instrumental in retaining Pro retail. What’s more, the recently introduced direct rail link to London means that the region is even more accessible, competing with the UK’s top city destinations not only through ease of access, quality of facilities and value, but on delivering a truly great visitor experience. From the contemporary urban culture of Telford to the world famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge, we have a unique and inspiring events destination indeed.”
Tom Gray, CEO at the Southwater Event Group, which owns and runs The International Centre, Telford, concluded: “We are proud to host Pro retail as it celebrates 21 years at Telford and the stature of this event reflects our ambitions as a venue to continually serve large, national events who are market-sector leaders. It is very positive to see the longevity of client retention, such as with Pro retail, and we work hard to achieve this via delivering exceptional client service and continually investing in our resource, venue and supporting services.
“As an events destination, Telford now offers all the benefits of its city counterparts, but with none of the congestion or distractions – and we look forward to marking many more event milestones in the months and years ahead.”
