The world’s longest running consumer show is on sparkling form for its return to its birthplace at Olympia LondonIdeal Home Show has found its dream home – back where it first began 107 years ago. The Anglian Home Improvements sponsored show which first launched at Olympia London in 1908 is back better and more beautiful than ever, with features including the venue’s natural daylight, vast array of spaces and unique grandeur proving a hit with exhibitors and visitors alike.
Event Director, Giles Perry, said: “After five years of comfortably running Ideal Home Show at Earls Court, we’ve made our new home at Olympia London very happily with the minimum amount of fuss. Through a great deal of planning, including weekly site visits beginning at the start of this year, we could not be more delighted with the results so far. It’s been a genuinely collaborative project between Ideal Home and Olympia London and we look forward to that partnership continuing.”
Stunning show centrepieces, such as the replicas of Number 10 and 11 Downing Street, look apt beneath the grand ornate barrelled roof of Olympia Grand in the Show Homes zone. Olympia National, the sleek art deco space adjoining and the venue’s second largest space has become a giant greenhouse, hosting Ideal Gardens. Across both upstairs and downstairs, from the ornate Pillar Hall hosting the Grand Hall Tea Rooms, to the Club room which has proved the perfect blank canvas for the elegant Champagne bar, the whole of the venue has been utilised to the max.
Operationally, the venue has helped the show feel at home. Olympia London staff were out in force during the opening day to welcome and direct visitors, alongside Ideal Home’s ‘show-makers’ teams, while the venue’s new online vehicle booking tool was also a significant support. “Vehicle logistics has gone well, better than ever,” said Mr Perry. “The Voyage Control booking system means contractors can time their deliveries and it encourages everyone to think more about efficiency. In fact, one of our contractors has said this was one of the smoothest build ups they’ve ever had.”
Early indications are that visitor numbers are strong and the Easter weekend is also expected to bring a bumper crowd of consumers to the show.
Anna Golden, Commercial Director at Olympia London, said: “It’s wonderful to see the whole venue transformed as a place for discovery and inspiration for the Ideal Home Show. It looks bigger, better and busier than ever before and we think particularly that visitors are happier with the natural daylight which Olympia benefits from. We will be working closely with Ideal Home to ensure future years of success here and to support them in their development plans as they continue to settle in.”
Ideal Home Show 2015 runs from the 20th March – 6th April at Olympia London.
