ICC Birmingham wins three new medical association contracts

The International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham will host the British Nuclear Medicine Society and the Association of Breast Surgery for the first time, and will welcome the return of the British Association of Dermatologists. Organisers of all three events cited the ICC’s central location as one of the key factors for choosing the purpose built conference venue.

The ICC’s location in the heart of the UK offers unrivalled connectivity by road, rail and air, with over 98% of the UK population within a four hour travel time. Its fantastic city centre location provides an enhanced delegate experience, offering a wide choice of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops and over 6,200 hotel beds all within walking distance of the ICC. Many associations report an increase in attendance numbers when holding their event at the ICC Birmingham.

The British Nuclear Medicine Society has confirmed a three year deal with the ICC for 2016, 2017 and 2018. They are expecting around 500 delegates to attend their two day event. Charlotte Weston, Chief Executive Officer for the British Nuclear Medicine Society said: “We have been impressed by the experience and enthusiasm of the ICC team and we are really looking forward to hosting our conferences there. Its central location means that it is easy for all of our delegates to get to and there is a wide range of hotels within walking distance of the ICC for them to choose from.”

The Association of Breast Surgery will hold its conference for the first time at the ICC in 2018 and will return again in 2021and they expect to attract 800 delegates. A spokesperson for the Association of Breast Surgery said: “We have chosen the ICC Birmingham for our forthcoming conferences based on its central location, high standard of facilities and competitive all-inclusive price. We are really looking forward to hosting our event in Birmingham.”

The British Association of Dermatologists is returning to the ICC following successful conferences in previous years and will hold their event at the venue in 2016 and 2021. The three day event will welcome over1000 delegates. Christopher Garrett, Conference & Event Services Manager for the British Association of Dermatologists said: “The ICC Birmingham provides an ideal destination for our Annual Meeting. It has all the qualities we look for in a venue: great space; state of the art facilities; City Centre location; and fantastic service. Our delegates love the venue and so do we, so it was a very easy decision to return.”
