Festival start with nine star-crowned chefs from Great BritainTonight, with the Grand Opening, the ‘British Edition’ of the 2015 St. Moritz Gourmet Festival will begin. About 400 gourmet fans have already guaranteed themselves an admission ticket for this festival prelude; however, epicures who decide to come at the last minute still have a chance of participating in the more than 40 different exceptional and enjoyable events of this festival week.
As a delicious tribute to the first British tourists, to whom we owe the anniversary of ‘150 years of winter tourism in Switzerland’, the following international guest master chefs from Great Britain will guarantee, until Friday night, a matchless culinary experience in the Upper Engadine during the festival week: Claude Bosi, Angela Hartnett, Chong Choi Fong, Virgilio Martínez, Jason Atherton, Nathan Outlaw, Isaac McHale, Atul Kochhar and Martin Burge.
Tonight, all nine guest chefs together, each with his or her very individual art of cooking, will ensure a sparkling festival prelude during the Grand Opening at the – very British – glamorously decorated Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains, St. Moritz. Around 400 guests are expected, including many well-known personalities, and they will be able to savour the first samples offered by the guest chefs at different gourmet isles, and meet the chefs personally. Fine champagnes, wines and spirits will round off the pleasures of the palate. And at the party afterwards, a live music band will ensure an exuberant festive atmosphere.
From Tuesday onwards will follow the individual delicious encounters with each of the guest chefs at the Gourmet Dîners in the restaurants of the partner hotels, as well as the popular Gourmet Safaris and the legendary Kitchen Party. Further Special Events are the Illustrious Kitchen Whispering, Seafood Blizzards and the culinary discovery tour The Tasting, as well as events such as Fascination Champagne, Celestial Wines and Wine & Cheese Celebration. At the Chocolate Cult, all lovers of tender, melting temptations will find everything their heart desires, and a typically British tradition will be celebrated in style at the exceptional Dorchester Afternoon Tea with executive chef Henry Brosi.
On Friday evening, the crowning event of the festival week will be the Great BMW Gourmet Finale. For the occasion, the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz will turn into Buckingham Palace. The festival guests will dine in style at the big ‘Table d’Hôte‘ in the festively decorated dining room of the grand hotel, just like state guests invited by the Queen. All nine guest chefs, together with the local chefs de cuisine, will serve unforgettable and delectable culinary delights with their fantastic gala dinner.
In view of this prospect, whoever wishes still to participate in one of these pleasurable events, should book immediately: a few admission tickets are still available! The detailed programme and booking information can be found at www.stmoritz-gourmetfestival.ch.
