The museum, which recently won Silver at the London Design Awards 2014 for the complete redesign of its two main restaurants, has restored the original 1956 carriage to echo the lavish style of 19th Century rail travel. With covers for 24, The Countess of York will be available for evening hire for corporate and private dining, whilst serving luxury afternoon tea during museum hours.
Attendees at the launch will include friends of the museum, event managers, PAs and local businesses, who will be given an exclusive tour of the beautifully restored carriage, observing unique features such as tailor-made china, Edwardian décor and elegant furniture. To add an authentic feel, guests will be served by staff dressed as vintage stewards to reflect the upper class dining experience of a bygone era.
Caterer’s Levy Restaurants UK will provide a taster of the afternoon tea and fine dining menu, which will feature a selection of sandwiches, fine leaf teas and homemade cakes, with all ingredients sourced from local Yorkshire suppliers.
