Produced by the Global Conference Network, the Summit also revealed the results of its salary survey, which covered various roles in conferences at all levels of seniority.
The results found that the average salary for a conference sales director was £100,000pa, and that it takes 80% of conference CEO’s ten years to achieve that level, however 4% had become CEO’s within just four years. One lucky participant of the survey from WTG Events walked away from the Summit having scooped the coveted entry prize - a trip for two to Dubai and Hong Kong, kindly donated by Hong Kong Convention & Events Bureau and Dubai Tourism.
The Summit, chaired by Bansri Shah, managing director of Greenpower Conferences, also featured appearances from other leading industry experts including the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, Nick de Bois MP; Isobel Peck, director of communities, brand and content at Informa; and Ben Hilary, managing director of International Research Networks.
Attendees enjoyed a unique opportunity to engage in roundtable discussions with senior conference leaders focusing on top level strategic issues facing their businesses. Topics included ‘Content-led Exhibitions’, ‘Innovating the Delegate Experience’ tying into ‘Digital marketing’, a CEO roundtable whilst also taking a look into how to ‘Maximising Engagement Whatever Your Revenue Model’.
Claire Wormsley, director of the Global Conference Network, said: “We are delighted with the attendance at this year’s event – with so many key decision makers attending; the level of debate and discussion was outstanding. It is a great privilege to have been joined by so many industry experts and we want to say a big thank you to all our sponsors and speakers for making the 4th Summit such a success.”
The Conference Summit also featured an exhibition of industry suppliers including Conference Expo/Nimlok, The Hurlingham Club, Triggerfish Communications and One World.
