The George and The Pig & Goose on the Strand re-opens

Following an extensive refurbishment The George Public House has re-opened its doors in time for Christmas. The George Public House is a Victorian reincarnation of a 15th century coffee house located at the meeting point of the Strand and Fleet Street. The recent restoration has developed the ground floor, retaining the original historic pub features and keeping a traditional feel throughout, whilst upstairs on the first floor, a new elegant and sophisticated restaurant has been created, named The Pig & Goose. 

Head Chef Chris Hickey is overseeing the menus for both The Pig & Goose and The George. The brand new Pig & Goose restaurant offers an exciting, modern British menu, using only the finest seasonal produce. You can expect dishes such as: Dorset crab ravioli, shellfish minestrone; partridge breasts, crispy legs, Castelluccio lentils, pancetta, cavolo nero; stone bass fillet, parsnip purée, girolles, spinach, chicken jus. Alongside this is an extensive and thoughtfully selected wine cellar specialising in old world wines with a particular focus on French classics. There is also a cheese trolley featuring seven British cheeses to pair with their extensive range of ports, whiskies and brandies.  

Adjacent to The Pig & Goose restaurant is the exclusive Horace Walpole private dining room, with a stunning view of the Royal Courts of Justice. The room can be hired for meetings, drinks or a seated dinner for up to 10 people with your own private waiter.  

The bar is open seven days a week with a fresh, inspiring but classic British menu, which features delights such as: pulled pork and goose burger, pickled apple, gem, chips, cider dipping gravy; Radeberger Pilsner battered haddock fillet, chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and West Country shepherd’s pie with autumn greens. The bar features a great range of craft beers, nine rotating local and national real ales and a carefully crafted wine and spirit selection.
