NCC Events renews contract with the NEC

NCC Events, the exhibition arm of the National Caravan Council (NCC), has renewed its contract with the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), announcing that its two annual exhibitions – the Motorhome and Caravan Show and the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome show – will continue to be held at the Birmingham venue until 2018.

Commenting on the new deal, John Lally, NCC Director General said: “The NEC offers the flexibility that we need to create a great show for our visitors. We use the indoor and outdoor space available to create valuable features for our visitors, including a campsite and a towing and manoeuvring area where visitors can try before they buy. Working alongside the NEC, we are confident that we will continue delivering great shows and find new ways to enhance our visitor experience.”

The Motorhome and Caravan Show, which takes place in October, utilises the whole 83,936sqm of the NEC’s Atrium and welcomes in the region of 100,000 visitors. The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show takes place in February and uses 68,000sqm of the NEC Piazza, welcoming around 84,000 visitors.

Kathryn James, Managing Director of the NEC, said: “NCC is our second biggest client in terms of the number of visitors across both shows, and the October edition alone is our third largest in terms of the space used. The NEC is not only able to provide the space and flexibility that the shows require, its location in the heart of the country and great connectivity also allows the thousands of visitors that attend the ability to travel to the venue with ease, so we are delighted that NCC has chosen to renew their contract with us.”

The news comes shortly after the NEC announced a new contract with the organisers of W14 - the Joinery and Manufacturing Show, which will see the 2016 and 2018 editions of the show held at the NEC. The long-term commitment demonstrated by both organisers reinforces the NEC as a venue of choice for both trade and consumer shows.
