Record Breaking Vancouver adds product

MICE planners have more reasons than ever to choose Vancouver, still on a high from hosting August’s SIGGRAPH, its largest conference to date with 14,000 delegates. November will see the Fairmont transform its rooftop restaurant into a dedicated events space capable of holding 240 people while the Westin Grand Hotel recently completed upgrades to its seven meeting rooms and the Shangri-La Hotel has refreshed its intimate sixth-floor terrace space with new tenting and landscaping.

Recently opened properties include Hotel BLU, with its ‘floating’ Pacific Boardroom enveloped by floor-to-ceiling windows and theatre-style conference space holding 60. More informal recent additions include Skwachays Lodge whose interiors were part designed by Aboriginal artists. Its Art Gallery and Cedars Boardroom, which seat up to 60 and 16 respectively, feature full AV capabilities and catering.
