GLL launches event management division 'Better Venues'

Olympic legacy operator and charitable social enterprise GLL has launched a full service events management division, known as 'Better Venues'.
GLL is the largest operator of public leisure facilities in the UK, operating under brand name 'Better' and has 20 years event management experience across the country - including the Copper Box Arena, the third-largest indoor arena in London, international sporting destination, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and popular music venue, Reading’s Rivermead Leisure Centre


Better Venues offer businesses an eclectic portfolio of 14 event locations, backed by a proven and creative event management team. From conferences, exhibitions and incentive programmes through to product launches, sporting spectacles and corporate hospitality, GLL has a unrivalled knowledge of the industry. And, because it is part of a social enterprise, surpluses from Better Venues are ploughed back into its facilities, ensuring low-cost prices for clients and local communities.

Companies can choose from a host of locations including iconic listed buildings, York Hall, Porchester Hall and Clissold House as well as the state-of-the-art Seymour Suite in Westminster, the Brixton Conference Suite and the Marshall Street Conference Suite - featuring an art deco pool and entrance hall. Many venues are located on the same sites as Better's leisure facilities, so bookings can include a range of spa and wellbeing packages or exercise based team-building activities.

From music concerts such as the BBC Sessions with Amy Winehouse to providing the perfect venues for corporate events and training days, Better also regularly supply film locations for SKY, Disney, Coca Cola, Asda, Tesco as well as independent film makers. The organisation also runs events in partnership with local councils, exam boards and education establishments.

Better Venues Portfolio of meeting rooms and conference suites includes:
Brixton Conference Suite – Brixton Station Road, Brixton In the heart of the bustling Brixton Market, Better Venues offers a state of the art conference suite, perfect for training days and workshops. The grey and white suite can be organised for meetings around a board room style table, alternatively theatre seating can be set up or a communal horseshoe ring.

Clissold House – Clissold Park, Hackney With spectacular views over parkland, this palatial, 18th century Grade II listed mansion was a finalist at the Event Awards 2013. Clissold House is a perfect location for corporate events - clients can enjoy the surroundings, including a deer and nature park, stream and gardens. 

Marshall Street – Westminster (close to Oxford Street) Having undergone an £11 million renovation, Marshall Street Leisure Centre has been restored to its former 1930’s glory, with an art deco pool and entrance hall. Ideal for conferences, trainings, meetings & examinations. Bookings for corporate hospitality, conferences or away days can also include treatments at 'SpaLondon', located on the lower ground floor.

Porchester Hall – Bayswater A 1929 art deco Grade II listed building with ornamental bronze and wrought iron banisters, striking marble walls and crystal chandeliers and an original swimming pool and Turkish Spa. Ideal for larger formal events, including Christmas parties, corporate events, fashion shows, product launches. The venue can seat up to 400 people, with the use of a nearby car park for 100 cars. A small hall is ideal for meetings of up to 50 people and can be incorporated into hire of the main hall. Other rooms available in the venue include the Duchess of York suite, the Blue Room.

Seymour Conference Suite – Westminster A light and airy conference suite capable of hosting up to 60 people. The suite features top of the line conferencing equipment with HDMI inputs, smart boards, and flat screen TVs. Pefect for away days as business can be combined with a wide range of sporting facilities including a climbing wall, swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, netball, squash and table tennis.

West Reservoir, Green Lanes, Hackney Situated on the banks of a picturesque lake, Stoke Newington West Reservoir Centre is a stunning 1930s structure; originally built as a filter house on the side of the reservoir. It offers a unique, open and flexible space that retains many of the original features including hydraulic machinery which can be viewed in the main hall. The centre is also a unique water sports facility, offering open water swimming, sailing and kayaking - perfect for team building sessions as part of a corporate away day or for training days.

York Hall – Bethnal Green Opened in 1929 by the Duke of York, this is a grand neo-Georgian grade II listed building. York Hall offers a range of meeting rooms alongside the large Main Hall, which provides the flexibility to host a variety of events including weddings, fashion shows, Christmas parties, vintage fairs and live events; such as comedy nights, auctions, gigs and music events. The leisure and Spa facilities offer a relaxing extra to your booking, or a perfect filming location.

All Better Venue meeting rooms can be set up to include everything from AV and PA systems to onsite technical support and full catering. The Better Venues team can also help source local accommodation through a network of partners.
