Variety hosts an evening of magic at Vinopolis

A night of magic and music in support of Children’s Charity, Variety at Vinopolis

Monday 29th September saw the philanthropists come out in force at Vinopolis for a magic packed event in support of Children’s Charity Variety with special guest performance from magician extraordinaire Dynamo and help from Laura Wright, Gaby Roslin and the Diamond Boys. The event celebrates 65 years of Variety in the UK and the birth of the Variety Patrons Campaign.

The Gala Dinner Event began at The View from The Shard before moving to Vinopolis, London’s premium self-guided wine and champagne experience with over eight event spaces. Variety utilised the impressive Great Halls for the dinner capitalising on the majestic London Bridge arches to add to the ‘magical’ elements of the evening with in-house technical firm Metro Broadcast ‘lighting’ the way.

Kicking off at The View from the Shard with a Lanson Champagne reception for the 300 guests, food from The London Kitchen, magic by Dynamo and live music from the Diamond Boys, the guests were then led on a magical walk through Borough Market to Vinopolis. At Vinopolis a three course dinner was served in the Great Halls alongside music from Jonathan Carr, Laura Wright and Moni Tivony all with help from Event Organiser, Jeremy Andersen. To make the evening truly magical Dynamo performed further illusions and addresses were given by Irvine Sellar, the developer of The Shard, and Harold Tillman CBE, the founder and chairman of Patrons of Variety.

Variety works to provide vital equipment for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and took the opportunity to launch ‘Patrons of Variety’, a campaign encouraging people to pledge ten thousand pounds a year for three years in support at the event.
