The Mermaid further restored its River Rooms in order to accommodate a larger capacity in time for Christmas and create a more flexible and effective space for any type of event. A new bi-foldable wall in the upper River Room connects the adjoining Queenhithe, increasing the capacity of the room for up to 600 and offering event organisers an alternative space for networking, drinks receptions, or a dancefloor.
The River Room’s stunning views of the Thames have also been enhanced with the expansion and the addition of window soundproofing, creating a truly show-stopping background. The River Rooms add to the spaces already available for hire at The Mermaid, amongst which is The Auditorium with tiered seating for 600 people.
The changes follow last year’s refurbishment which saw the River Rooms re-styled with an open-plan layout, featuring new contemporary furniture, LED lighting and dark wooden floors.
The party will welcome industry figures, corporates and agency clients to showcase the renovated rooms, accompanied by The Mermaid’s renowned hospitality. Food and drink will be provided by onsite caterer Create Food and Party Design. The evening will have a distinctly British theme and embrace the iconic sites of London, many of which can be seen from the River Rooms.
In addition, The Mermaid has secured an exclusive agreement with Thames Clippers to transport guests from Canary Wharf to Blackfriars pier to facilitate access for guests. Post-event, the boat will head back upstream to drop guests to various pier locations. Other partners for the evening include Giant iTabs, who will provide state of the art tweet walls; and Concerto group who provide Christmas parties at the venue.
Alicia Duncan, general manager at The Mermaid said: “It’s great to not only mark the 1st birthday of our River Rooms but also show off the latest changes. It’s set to be a fantastic night and it will give our guests the opportunity to experience our event offering in full swing while also showcasing our partners who have supported us to put on this event”.
