September calendar featuring 18 major trade shows, conferences and entertainment events expected to attract global visitorsDubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is gearing up to welcome an estimated 275,000 visitors this September as the calendar of events kicks off on Friday, 5th September. The packed schedule including 12 of the Middle East’s most anticipated trade and consumer shows and conferences, plus six spectacular live events are expected to draw visitors and exhibitors from around the world.
The line-up of major events serving as a gateway to growing industries in the UAE and the wider region include Cityscape, GITEX Shopper, International Congress of Radiology, the 1st Middle East Molecular Biology Congress and Exhibition, The Hotel Show, The Leisure Show, and more. These events will run alongside some of the UAE’s much awaited family entertainment shows.
“We’re entering the peak season for anchor exhibitions that set the tone and define their respective industries,” said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, DWTC. “These events provide a platform to showcase the newest trends and products in each industry, and give visitors and exhibitors the chance to network with potential partners, and uncover opportunities to drive their own business in the wider MENASA market.
“The diverse calendar of events is expected to draw thousands of business visitors and delegates from all over the world, driving business tourism and fuelling economic growth to the region.”
The 28th International Congress of Radiology will take place from 9 to 12 September, with over 30 Radiological societies and more than 200 delegates from all over the world who will participate in more than 155 sessions.
Keeping with the theme of healthcare and medicine, the 1st Middle East Molecular Biology Congress and Exhibition, taking place from 14 to 17 September, will bring together hundreds of professionals from the field of Molecular Biology research, Healthcare, Industrial, and Biotech Applications, to exchange expertise while exhibiting cutting-edge technologies from over 150 exhibitors. The event will also host the 5th UAE National Genetic Diseases Conference which is held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
Cityscape Exhibition & Conference, the region’s largest and most influential real estate event, will take place from 21 to 23 September and is set to be the largest in five years. According to the Dubai Land Department (DLD), investment from GCC nationals in Dubai's property sector stood at $5.2bn for the first half of 2014, with UAE buyers responsible for two-thirds of these deals. In line with this demand, Cityscape has been extended with two additional exhibition halls, covering more than 30,000sqm of exhibition space. It will open its doors to investors, developers, regional and city investment promotion authorities, architects, designers, and professionals looking for lucrative real estate ventures from around the world. The event also has a dedicated conference programme and will host 25,000 participants from 100 countries.
GITEX Shopper, the region’s largest consumer IT and electronics show, expects another bumper sales performance this year. Taking places from 27 September to 4 October, the eight-day sales extravaganza is estimated to attract over 210,000 visitors. More than 100 leading consumer IT and electronics brands will be represented, with more than 35,000 products on show. A host of regional power retailers including Al Falak Electronics, E-City, Jacky’s, Jumbo, Max, Mega, Plug Ins and Sharaf DG will be running exclusive show promotions as well as offers on the latest smartphones, tablets, laptops, gaming, TVs and cameras from leading brands.
Celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, The Hotel Show is one of the region’s leading shows for the hospitality, hotel, and tourism industries. From 28 to 30 September, suppliers and buyers from 86 countries will take part in this key industry event, which provides a vibrant showcase of luxury and contemporary interiors, essential equipment, and the latest technology in the market. Running concurrently and co-located with The Hotel Show, The Leisure Show will feature key suppliers, presentations, investor developer forums, with a major focus on sustainable build. The show is essential for suppliers and buyers in the leisure industry, whether pools and spas, sports, fitness, adventure, or parks and attractions.
Other exhibitions and conferences hosted at DWTC throughout September include Games 2014, Gifts & Premium Exhibition, Private Label Middle East Exhibition, Omani Products Exhibition, Patients Safety Exhibition and Conference, and Paper Arabia.
In addition, DWTC will also host six entertainment shows this month including Pinoy Pride (5 September), the action-packed boxing event which is being held outside the Philippines for the first time, Comedy Nights with Kapil (5 September), featuring Indian television’s king of comedy Kapil Sharma, Disney on Ice – Rockin’ Ever After (10 to 13 September), featuring much-loved Disney characters, and French singer and musician, Patrick Bruel (18 September) who will be joined on stage by six other musicians to perform top hits such as Casser la voix, Marre de cette nana Mon amour de St Jean and Qui a le droit.
