The NEC Group’s Oncourse training centre and Professor Chris Kemp launch the event industry’s first scenario-based accredited certificate in Crowd ScienceThe NEC Group’s Oncourse Centre of Excellence, which provides Health and Safety training across the UK, has teamed up with Professor Chris Kemp to launch the event industry’s very first scenario-based programme. The accredited certificate focuses primarily on crowd science, management, dynamics, psychology and social interaction..
The course, which is designed for anyone involved in the day to day running of events, takes place over five days and combines theory and application; giving trainees the opportunity to put learning into practice through simulated venue scenarios. The course can be tailored to the needs of clients in order to offer relevant and effective training for any event including conferences, retail, music and sport.
Professor Kemp, who has nearly 35 years of experience in the events and education sectors, has written twelve books in this area. A recent book written with Professor Patrick Smith on the topic of Learning in the Round focuses on the way in which the participant, the facilitator and the industry expert are both teachers and learners during the educational experience. Chris worked alongside Oncourse to design this innovative and exciting programme.
He said, “There is a lot of theory surrounding Crowd Science but before now, there has been nothing that enables trainees to put the theory into practise in a real life, real time situation. This course fills the gap in the training market offering practical scenario-based training. This is something I have been looking to do for a while so I am delighted to be working closely with Oncourse to support the creation of this programme.”
Julie Fletcher, Health and Safety Trainer for Oncourse said, “We are really excited to be launching such a unique training course to the industry. The NEC Group has been running courses for its staff for over 10 years but delivering training to a wider audience through Oncourse is still a relatively new offering. So, to have teamed up with Professor Kemp - one of the industry’s leading experts – to launch our own accredited training programme in this area is something we are really proud of. I look forward to holding the first course at the NEC and plans are already in place to extend throughout the UK and abroad.
The first course will run at the NEC from 8th-12th of December.
