Tahiti comes to London with the inaugural Tahiti Pétanque competition in celebration of the new brand launch

On 15 July 2014, a taste of the harmonious Islands of Tahiti was brought to London through Tahiti Tourisme’s inaugural Tahiti Pétanque competition. The event launched Tahiti Tourisme’s new global brand positioning to the UK market, attended by trade, media and representatives of Air Tahiti Nui.

After a nail-biting Pétanque championship, the victorious team included attendees from trade partners Turquoise Holidays and E-tours, who each took home a bottle of champagne.

Tahiti Tourisme’s new brand identity, which was formally announced last month, is the result of a comprehensive and strategic project, listening to the feedback of trade and consumers, looking at the market competition and highlighting the destination’s strengths. The end-product distils all the qualities that make The Islands of Tahiti so unique – its elegance, harmony, generosity and exhilarating landscapes.

The event kicked off an exciting summer in The Islands of Tahiti, culminating in the World Pétanque Championships on 23 to 26 October. Set against the picture-perfect backdrop of blue skies and turquoise lagoons, 192 players representing 48 nations, including the UK, will battle for the Pétanque crown in the 47th edition of the Championships.

Michel Monvoisin, Chairman of Tahiti Tourisme board commented on the brand launch: “The core elements of the new brand approach, plus the visual elements which will help us express our passion for French Polynesia, give us a platform to build a consistent story across all markets, informing and inspiring our target consumer and key audiences or partners alike. It marks a moment in time, in our story, where we look confidently towards the future and plan for it together with local industry, partners and government”.
