A big success for Qualitaly 2014

Qualitaly 2014 networking
Unanimous satisfaction from buyers and sellers. Seven Countries were represented on the demand side as well as many industry segments, such as pharmaceutical, finance, energy and retail. On the supply side, hotels and locations, agencies and Dmcs, transport companies and many convention bureaus.

Qualitaly, the workshop-educational promoted by the association Qualitaly for events, held from July 10th to 13th and based at Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, turned highly successful and unanimously satisfactory for all participants, from both demand and supply. The event was organized by Brains network, and had the Italian magazine Quality Travel as official media partner.

A look at the origin attests the heterogeneity of foreign guests. The largest group came from the United Kingdom, counting 30% of buyers, followed by Russia (25%) and Georgia (15%). Also significant was the participation of Ukraine (10%). There were finally buyers from Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Italy (5% each). There were pharmaceutical companies, travel agencies and tour operators (only from Russia and some CIS countries), finance and credit companies, major distributors, insurance companies, energy providers, representatives of major international exhibitions. From the UK took part in the workshop also the famous auction house Christie's and the International Wine & Food Society, for which you can imagine what an enormous interest the Italian market plays. In short, it was a very high profile event, both for the purchasing power of the represented sectors and for the quality of the companies themselves.

47% of the exhibition area was given by some of the major hotel chains operating in Italy as well as by many large hotels and/or resorts with a specific vocation for meetings. 30% was covered by large territorial Convention Bureaus, as well as by provincial offices for tourism and product clubs. 17% were ultimately agencies and DMCs, and the remaining 6% transport companies.

Specific corners were dedicated to the Italian Mice associations (Federcongressi&eventi, MPI Italia Chapter and Site Italy Chapter) as well as to the publishing houses partnering the event (the English Cat Publications and the Italian website Madeincongress.it).

The event was completed by a range of educational post-tours, selected with Regional tourist offices, local Convention Bureaus and Product clubs, thus giving the buyers an adequate experience not only of the congress resources of the single locations but also of other characteristics such as food and wine, art, culture etc.

The post-tours took place in:
– Genoa (Liguria) (in partnership with Genoa Convention bureau);
– Parma and Motor Valley (with Emilia-Romagna regional tourist office);
– Riva del Garda (Trento Province) (in partnership with Riva del Garda Mice);
– Varese (Lombardy) (in partnership with Varese Convention Bureau).
– Viareggio (Tuscany) (in partnership with Viareggio Municipality).

The tours, conceived and produced by each of the over mentioned partners, started off in the late afternoon of Friday July 11th and ended before the evening of Sunday 13th, depending on the schedules of the buyers’ return flights to their destinations of origin.

The event was preceded by a prestigious gala dinner in one of the coolest places in Milan, the beautiful Starhotels Rosa Grand, in piazza Fontana, behind the Duomo. The dinner, which was attended by the presidents of the partner associations (or by their delegates), as well as by representatives of the partner publishing houses, was made even more enjoyable by a game about Italy: a series of multiple choice questions, with increasing difficulty, to which the participants – divided by tables – responded with enthusiasm. It all ended up with the extraction, at the winner table, of a voucher for a stay at a Starhotels facility.

The technology for remote voting was provided by Friends Interactive.

Jacopo Angri, President of Qualitaly for events, commented, "We are all very happy and proud of how things have gone: great was the satisfaction of each participant, either buyer or seller, great their involvement, great the effort in negotiations. I would also emphasize the novelty represented by numerous buyers who for the first time set foot in our country, thus making extraordinary business leads in themselves, according to their economic capacity too. The post-tours proved to be successful as well, because the evidence shows that Italy needs also to be shown and appreciated for what it is, the most beautiful country in the world. I would like to thank the whole team with whom I shared this adventure. Thanks also to the partner organizations and to those who have provided us with rooms and services, believing in our project. And finally, thanks to the participants, both buyers and sellers, wwhom we have given the best of our expertise. Their smiles were our greatest reward".
