RIBA Venues achieves Carbon Smart Gold Certification

RIBA Venues today announces that it has achieved Carbon Smart Gold Certification for saving 671.6 tonnes of CO2e through green initiatives carried out at the venue.
Carbon Smart Certification is an ongoing sustainability programme that recognises and promotes businesses that have taken action to reduce their impact on the environment.

Changing its electricity to 100 per cent renewable, introducing individual bento box lunches to reduce food waste, replacing paper handtowels with hand dryers in the toilets and incorporating commercial recycling schemes including recycling all clients materials for free are just some of the schemes it has implemented.

RIBA Venues Head of Venues Stephanie Ellrott says: “We are proud to have a rigorous sustainability programme in place at the venue which only works because the whole team has bought into the concept.

“Achieving this certification is testament to the hard work and dedication the team has put in to environmental principles and awareness.”

Carbon Smart Gold is the highest certification available through the Carbon Smart initiative. The certificated stated: ‘RIBA Venues has integrated carbon reduction methods into their normal working practices, do not stand still and always seek ways to improve their energy performance.’
