Hologram wows audience at Central Hall’s Meet The Future event

Over 300 delegates witnessed a 3D holographic interview live on stage at Central Hall Westminster’s Meet The Future event on Tuesday that created a real buzz as the audience struggled to differentiate between the live presenter and the life-like holographic image. Delivered by event partners Musion and Eclipse Presentations, Dr Paul Redmond was interviewed in holographic form on his research into the future of work and ‘Generation Y’.

The half-day interactive conference explored the technology that could shape the future of the events industry. Other highlights included the keynote speech delivered by futurologist Mark Stevenson, who discussed disruptive technologies of the not so distant future and interactive discussion sessions exploring Google Glass and iBeacon technology delivered by sli.do and Eventbase respectively. Eventbrite also took to the stage to discuss the future of ticketing and registration and the event was closed by journalist and Gadget Show presenter David McClelland who spoke about the power of merging technologies together.  

Delegates were given the opportunity to get hands-on in the event’s Experience Pods, featuring cutting-edge virtual reality technology Oculus Rift, delivered by Visualise 360, and 3D body scanning with 3D printing experts Quod. White Space Productions demonstrated the latest in stereoscopic 3D technology, while Excelerated Apps and Blendology provided RFID technology in delegate badges.

Not only was it fantastically enjoyable, it was informative, innovative and exciting. It just goes to show that there is a real desire amongst MICE professionals to learn more about technology and keep up with developments.”

We were able to bring together some incredibly exciting technology with excellent speakers that stimulated the discussion about how the tech could impact the events industry in the future. Delegates were encouraged to interact with the event via their own smartphones and we had around 230 devices connected to our Wi-Fi transferring 14GB of data, so clearly the uptake was very high.
