High end corporate event planners discover Tasmania

Business Events Tasmania fam trip out at sea
Fresh succulent seafood, untouched wilderness landscapes and world class attractions are all on the menu this week as Business Events Tasmania host some influencial visitors. Seven Chinese business event organisers and two Chinese media representatives will be exploring some of southern Tasmania’s destinational highlights on a three-day familiarization, showcasing Tasmania as a high end business event destination for the Chinese market.

Business Events Tasmania CEO Stuart Nettlefold said “Media coverage is dominated now by the importance of China to the Australian economy and it’s no different in the business events industry. China is now Australia’s fastest growing inbound tourism market and largest contributor to international visitor spend. We see real potential for Tasmania, as a particularly attractive business event destination for China and Hong Kong.”

“Through our relationship with Business Events Australia, these event organisers have been specifically selected with the knowledge that they have corporate business events that would be well suited to Tasmania as a destination. The familiarisation is the perfect introduction to Tasmania as a new business event destination for their clients who are already quite familiar with Melbourne and Sydney.

“The investment in familiarisations provides a great return as clients are inevitably blown away by Tasmania’s high end product. Our natural landscapes, pristine environment, quality seafood and ‘paddock to plate’ experiences are a key drawcard of our island state and an essential part of the Chinese visitor experience.” said Mr Nettlefold.

The familiarisation will showcase Hobart and the south taking in experiences such as the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Frogmore Creek Winery, a Tasmanian Air Adventures flight to Ralphs Bay, Pennicott Wilderness Journey’s Tasmanian Seafood Seduction cruise, Bonorong Park, Salamanca Market and MONA.

Tasmania’s world class produce will be sampled at Frogmore Creek Winery, at a private dinner at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery prepared by Waji catering, Mee Wah and MONA.

“We’re proactively sharing the unique ‘Tasmanian experience’ with the world! Tasmania has some incredible product ideally suited to high end international business events.

“Familiarisations such as this that showcase Tasmania’s high end product, in conjunction with a range of other business strategies, are very effective tools for securing business and we hope to soon see the real economic and social benefits emerging.”
