Ultra White Collar Boxing sells out at Ricoh Arena

A sold-out boxing night at the Ricoh Arena was a massive hit, raising over £7,000 for charity.
Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB), who hosted the event, teach previously untrained male and female boxing enthusiasts to fight against a suitably matched opponent in order to raise funds for Cancer Research.
The intense eight-week training regime is provided by UWCB free of charge, and now in its fifth year, the event has spiralled in popularity with over 1,000 tickets being sold at the Ricoh Arena.

Twenty fights took place on a busy night of boxing action in the E.ON Lounge as well as entertainment before the bouts took place.

The events across the UK have raised just over £48,000 so far, with further boxing nights being planned for later in the year.

UWCB director Jon Leonard, who arranges the events, was delighted with the response the event received at the Ricoh Arena and thanked everyone who helped a worthy cause.

He said: “It was our first time in Coventry, and we’re really pleased with the response from boxing fans in the area.

“In some of our other events we’ve had ten fights and 500 spectators but in Coventry we had 20 fights and 1,000 spectators so it was a great night and the Ricoh Arena was a fantastic venue.

“We had lots of interest from people with no boxing background. One fighter even lost three stone in the build-up so it’s a great way to raise money and get fit too.

“The next step is to keep growing, keep building and hopefully raise a lot more money for such a good cause. We’d like to thank everyone who donated and took part and we look forward to our next visit to Coventry.”

Liz Cooper, marketing director at the Ricoh Arena, was delighted with the amount raised at the sell-out night for Cancer Research and is looking forward to welcoming the UCWB back later in the year.

Liz said: “We’re very pleased that the event went so well and raised so much money.

“It was a pleasure to host the evening and we had a fantastic response from sports fans. We’re looking forward to welcoming the UWCB team again and we hope they continue their efforts in raising plenty of money for a cause which is close to us all.”

The next UWCB events at the Ricoh Arena will take place on Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, November 16.
