The world’s largest indoor illumination’s experience opens in Blackpool

Illuminasia, Blackpool
April 18th will see the first new indoor attraction to open in Blackpool for more than twenty years as the £3m Illuminasia opens its doors in Olympia at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.
Illuminasia will transform the 45,000 square feet of Olympia Arena into six magical zones featuring over 35,000 lights in a blend of traditional Chinese lantern crafts and the latest in lighting technology.

The larger-than-life lanterns in Illuminasia are created using steel and angle iron framework, which is then covered with silk, satin, and vinyl in vibrant colors and internally lit using LED bulbs.

This creates the amazing environments in which guests are immersed from the moment they step into the attraction.

The journey through the different zones creates one of the most spectacular light shows ever seen indoors, it is the first of its kind in Europe and the features will be completely unique to Blackpool, highlighting its heritage and its place in the world of attractions.

Jon Conway, of behalf of promoters ISA, said: “The arrival of Illuminasia in Blackpool brings significant private investment into the town and will take the town’s illuminations heritage to a new level.

“The attraction utilises what is already an amazing space in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens and transforms it into a sparkling wonderland never seen before in the UK.”

As well as being a new addition to Blackpool's impressive list of attractions for day visitors and short breaks Illuminasia is also set to be a major draw for the groups market and in particular nurseries, schools and colleges. Youngsters and their tutors can enjoy a variety of learning opportunities including heritage and tourism, Chinese culture and language, astronomy, creative writing, and design, all in a fun environment.

Illuminasia will be open throughout the year from 11am
