Now in its fourth year, the Eventice is an Apprentice- style competition for final year event management undergraduates who are seeking to secure a role in industry.
Throughout the competition, students go head-to-head in a variety of challenges including video production and speed interviews, culminating in a panel presentation for the final, which will be held at the Event Production Show, Earls Court 2 from 11th-12th February 2014. Previous Eventice winners have earned roles with leading industry professionals including Blitz Communications, George P Johnson, Excel London and Tarsus Exhibitions.
One employer, event and experience marketing agency, George P Johnson has already committed its support for the third year running yet ESP hopes to find a second employer to be able to offer positions to two graduates from the final 12.
“Eventice candidates and winners have all demonstrated a passion for the industry and a drive to succeed – some of the tasks we set can certainly be a challenge,” explains ESP Recruitment’s managing director, Liz Sinclair. “We are extremely pleased George P Johnson has confirmed their support again for the 2014 competition and are now looking for a second company to offer the top two graduates the chance to make their first steps into the industry.
“Ideally, we are hoping to find a company with a graduate role in operations or logistics, something the successful candidate can really get their teeth into, and that will offer good, long-term career progression.” Liz concluded.
The vacancy will need to be available from June 2014 and potential employers can be assured the calibre of applicants really is outstanding. Ben Parkinson, Commercial Director at team building specialists Bluehat Group who have run the competition for the last three years, was delighted to see an unprecedented four jobs offered in the 2013 edition, “All the graduates competing were extremely motivated and eager to learn which inspired the companies involved to employ more than just the single space they had promised. The whole process gives employers a much greater opportunity to see potential employees in a range of different situations over a 48 hour period than you would get with the standard interview process. It’s a huge testament to the whole Eventice competition that not only are the winners highly employable but the finalists too.” Said Ben.
