Somerset House assigns filming and photography management to events department

Following recent growth in the sector, Somerset House has assigned the filming and photography management in its events department’s remit.
Previously part of the visitor communications department’s responsibilities, the events team has now been appointed to manage all filming and photography enquiries as part of its venue hire offering due to overall growth of Somerset House Trust’s business.

Four per cent of Somerset House’s business comes through filming and photography, with costs for the venue hire and association with the destination arranged on a bespoke basis.

The venue has become a popular location within the fashion industry and for period dramas, having previously hosted large and small productions such as major feature films The Duchess and Sherlock Holmes, BBC’s The Culture Show and fashion shoots for Marks & Spencer and Paul Smith.

Somerset House’s spaces are available to host a variety of productions, including feature films, fashion shoots, television dramas, commercials, documentaries and interviews.

Emma Barrow, head of events at Somerset House, comments: “As Somerset House is becoming an increasingly sought after destination by location managers, it’s great to now have filming and photography in our remit, meaning that we can streamline all venue hire enquiries more efficiently.”

Somerset House’s filming and photography facilities offer a trained and experienced security team, private on-site parking, catering, a green room and flexible locations not open to the public providing privacy for the cast and crew.
