Houston to host its first BestCities client workshop

Fifteen months since joining BestCities, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) will host its first BestCities client workshop. Held annually in different BestCities destinations, the client workshop has proven to be one of the most successful services offered by the alliance for both meeting planner and partner bureau.

“Hosting a client workshop in only our second year as a BestCities partner is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our city to international clients as well as demonstrate the alliance’s collaborative approach to business,” said Greg Ortale, President and CEO of GHCVB.

“We welcome our BestCities’ partners and clients to Houston. We are looking forward to a productive event that will also highlight Houston’s dynamic convention package paired with award-winning gastronomy and our unique attractions”, concluded Ortale.

All partners share their ‘top clients’ list and extend a personal invitation to each of the selected association executives. The workshop enables clients to gain a unique insight into BestCities as well as the destination. The hosting partner showcases their city, conference facilities and business acumen to a handpicked audience and all ten BestCities partners have the chance to build a stronger relationship with meeting planners they may not have had the opportunity to meet on their own.

From 10-13 October this year, representatives of eleven international associations from a range of market sectors including pharmaceutical, medical, science, journalism and industry, will converge in Houston, as will the other nine partners in the alliance – Berlin, Cape Town, Chicago, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Singapore and Vancouver.

The official schedule for the client workshop includes one-on-one meetings with all BestCities’ convention bureaux, site inspections of major venues and attractions and a networking lunch where the alliance’s newest product – designed for meeting planners – will be unveiled.  On the final day a forum will be held at a Texan ranch where feedback on CVB services will be sought so that BestCities can ensure their Quality Management System always remains customer focused.

At a separate meeting just ahead of this workshop, BestCities will hold its bimonthly business development meeting to discuss sales events taking place at IMEX America (Oct) and in London (Nov), and planning for the year 2014.

The BestCities client workshop is one of the many unique services offered by the renowned, global alliance and provides an exclusive opportunity for clients to experience one of the ten BestCities destinations; meet the representatives of all ten BestCities convention bureaus and participate in an exchange forum with other meeting planner association executives.

The next client workshop will be held in Cape Town, South Africa in December 2014.
