Cinderella shall go to the ball at UniSpace Sunderland

UniSpace Sunderland, the conference and events arm of the University of Sunderland, today announces that the iconic National Glass Centre will play host to a half-day launch event for Sunderland Empire Theatre’s Cinderella pantomime.

The event, which will take place on 30th September, will utilise many of the spaces available in National Glass Centre. The POD area will be transformed into a media room for journalists to conduct interviews with cast members as well as being used for a live broadcast by regional radio station SUN FM, while a number of the suites in National Glass Centre will be used as green rooms for cast members, including actress Sherrie Hewson. The event will culminate in a presentation in the Brasserie, where the cast will be introduced to around 200 guests.

VIP guests will be able to take part in glass blowing demonstrations, taking place in the on-site hot glass studio which has also been commissioned to produce a custom made glass slipper for the event.

Sharon Olver, Business Development and Commercial Manager at UniSpace Sunderland, commented: “National Glass Centre is an incredibly versatile venue and we are delighted to be able to show off this fact by hosting this launch event which requires simultaneous use of a number of the spaces available. Media and radio will be broadcasting live from the event and so we have taken time to ensure all technical requirements have been met to ensure smooth running on the day.

“I’m excited to see what the Cinderella pantomime has to offer and look forward to welcoming both cast members and guests to UniSpace Sunderland!”

John Cliff, Marketing Officer at Sunderland Empire, added: “Sunderland Empire are delighted to utilise the space on offer at the National Glass Centre for our exclusive Cinderella launch. The event will take on a range of varied components and we have been very pleased with the versatility of the space and the support of the team as a whole to ensure our launch is a success.”
