Be the VI – A taste of the British Virgin Islands in London

Following the success of the BVLive campaign in 2012, bespoke travel experts Black Tomato bring you Be the VI; a new collaboration with the British Virgin Islands aimed to deliver a slice of island life to London’s streets through video, a pop up bar and a brand new app.

The partnership celebrates the culturally rich and unique personality of the BVI and the indelible impression it leaves on those that travel there. When you travel to the BVI you don’t just spend time there; you immerse yourself in it, you live the way of life and you become the BVI.

The partnership will introduce the public to masters of the British Virgin Islands – the people who are experts in the fields and experiences that are key to defining what the BVI stand for; from music, food and art to sailing and wildlife, it’s impossible not to be drawn in by the BVI and this campaign demonstrates just that.

Black Tomato’s expert team will deliver six videos of island masters at work, showcasing the regions breadth and depth of experiences on offer whilst bringing a touch of sunshine to London’s Autumnal days. The pop up in Box Park, Shoreditch, will house a master mixologist flown over from the islands, offering a sneak peak of the relaxed atmosphere and beach bar ambience that the BVI promise. The mobile app, BVI IT, will bring the sunshine, beach lifestyle and BVI mentality straight to your smart phone. The app includes photo filters, hotel reviews, island tips and a way to hold the BVI lifestyle in the palm of your hand.

Of the campaign, Black Tomato co-founder Tom Marchant says "The BVI make such an impression on you when you visit. The passionate culture, the beauty of the environment and the genuine sense of joy you encounter in everyone you meet. It is a truly special place and we want to bring that spirit into the heart of London through our pop up bar and onto people's screens and handsets through rich content about the islands. Getting to know and experience the BVI in this innovative and immersive way is a fantastic start to ultimately taking a trip there and enjoying that same impression that it leaves on me every time I visit."
