For the first time ever, guests can enjoy a menu of Michelin star quality whilst cruising past some of London’s most famous landmarks and enjoying spectacular views of the river by night.
Simon has created a sumptuous menu inspired by his passion for local and sustainable produce to create memorable flavours. Dishes include, a pickled alto beetroot, green apple mustard, elderflower dressing, sheep’s curd, a Heritage tomato salad, Brixham crab, chilled tomato consommé, purple basil, yuzu oil followed by an Exmoor venison loin, sweet onion ash, croquette of haunch, celeriac puree, wild garlic capers, purple sprouting broccoli and to finish a choice of a Lemon verbena panna cotta, compressed strawberries, tonka bean meringue, korean mint or a Kikkoman soy and apple tart tatin, Somerset pomona and crème fraiche ice cream.
Since the age of 16, Simon has been competing in and winning competitions around the world and has represented his country on more than 20 occasions, twice in the world’s most prestigious culinary contest, the Bocuse d’Or. Over the years, Simon has worked with some of Britain’s most respected chefs including his father Roger, who have all played an important part in his career and achievements. His chef mentors and experience in top competitions have given Simon a passion for great ingredients and a finesse for taste and presentation which continues to win praise from critics and customers alike.
The Elephant restaurant has held three AA rosettes since 2005 and in 2006, Simon and his team won Torquay its first Michelin star, which it maintains today.
Guest can enjoy their evening with musical entertainment provided by the highly acclaimed jazz and swing singer Shane Hampsheir. As a professional singer, Shane has performed a number of one-man shows in theatres in the UK and Europe and is widely regarded as one of the country’s top swing singers.
Over the past year, Shane has performed in London’s most prestigious jazz clubs in his own right, with the Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Peter Long Orchestra, Nick Ross Orchestra, The Debbie Curtis Radio Big Band, The Len Phillips Big Band and around the country with his own big band and swing band.
