Language Study Centres chooses Well Met Conferencing as summer school destination for fourth consecutive year

Throughout July, Leeds Metropolitan University welcomed over 700 international and local students to Headingley Campus for its annual programme of summer schools. Language Study Centres (LSC), who returned for the fourth consecutive year this year, hosted a series of schools for students from Italy and Spain.

Students stayed at Carnegie Village and in addition to attending the summer schools, where they developed their English language skills, they also took advantage of the campus’ outstanding sports facilities.

Carnegie Village is ideally located for outings in Leeds and beyond, and the itinerary of social activities included trips to Harrogate, Leeds City Museum, Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, and the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth.

Mark Pentland, from Language Study Centres, commented: “We choose Leeds Metropolitan University for our summer schools because the staff are friendly and accommodating and the service we receive is second to none. Plus, all our students and leaders love the contrast of the ultra-modern halls of residence with the grand old buildings of the University and the beautiful green landscape surrounding it all.”

Kate Davis, Head of Business Development for Leeds Metropolitan University said: “Leeds Metropolitan University offers a classic collegiate campus setting with a vibrant mix of learning, sporting and social opportunities for summer schools. Our Carnegie Village campus is a safe, modern and extremely well equipped environment for students wishing to develop their language schools whilst also having fun their new friends. In addition, the location makes outings in Yorkshire and beyond simple to organise even when they have to fit within strict timetables.”

As well as, LSC’s schools, The School of Languages at Leeds Metropolitan University welcomed 45 teachers from Madrid, Spain. The group attended a Teacher Training Programme for Secondary School Teachers of Art and Music and Geography and History.
