Home of Cricket celebrates hospitality successes

Developments to the hospitality offering at Lord’s Cricket Ground in 2013 have helped the venue to reinforce its reputation for high quality food and first class service levels, whilst enhancing the overall client experience.
A total of 8,742 hospitality packages were sold at Lord’s during major matches this summer. Proving extremely popular, the bespoke Ashes Club premium package, launched exclusively for the second Investec Ashes Test Match between England and Australia, was one of the season’s biggest successes.

For the duration of the England v Australia Test, 6,377 packages were booked by corporate and private guests, and from a total of over 10,000 people enjoying hospitality throughout the match, 4,506 guests were hosted in boxes, with access to unrivalled views of the famous “hallowed turf” and bespoke menu packages.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) – owners of the spiritual ”Home of Cricket” – reviewed the structure of its hospitality services earlier this year, taking control of the entire process to ensure that the Ground’s core values and impeccable customer service are delivered throughout the Lord's experience. MCC also completed refurbishments to the Tavern Stand Boxes and Marylebone Suite at the start of 2013, to bring the spaces into line with the impressive facilities available across the rest of the world famous cricket ground.

Nick Kenton, Head of Sales for Meetings & Events and Hospitality at Lord’s, said: “The reception to the hospitality restructure at Lord’s this summer has been extremely positive. The move has allowed us to provide a bespoke service to all of our clients, which alongside the refurbishment of the Tavern Stand Boxes and Marylebone Suite, ensures that Lord’s continues to offer a truly unique hospitality experience.

“We are delighted to have exceeded our budget for the 2013 season, and look forward to continuing this trend next summer, when Lord’s will host the touring Sri Lankan and Indian cricket teams in two Tests and a One Day International.”

Alison Greagsby, Marketing Director at 505 Games, hosted guests at the second Investec Ashes Test Match at Lord’s: “Our guests all agreed that the Ashes Club was the best hospitality day that they have ever experienced. The venue itself was very relaxed with a great atmosphere and much needed air conditioning, the food was outstanding, the service was second to none and the fact that so many of the ex-players stayed around and gave us so much of their time made it an unforgettable day.”
