CIH Housing 2013 makes triumphant return to Manchester Central

CIH Housing Conference & Exhibition has hailed its “best ever” event after making a successful return to Manchester Central. The conference and exhibition was held at Manchester Central from June 25-27, for its second edition at the leading North venue. Conference delegate numbers were up 17% year on year, and the key event audience increased by 6%, proving once more that CIH Housing Conference and Exhibition is the most important event in the UK’s housing calendar.

More than 300 exhibitors from across the industry enjoyed a successful show with the increased attendance. Meanwhile, re-bookings were also impressive. By the time the show closed on Thursday, June 27, 57% of the 2014 event was already rebooked.

Angie Robinson, Chief Executive of Manchester Central, said: “CIH Housing Conference and Exhibition relocated to Manchester Central last year and was an incredible success. And 2013 has seen the conference and exhibition go from strength-to-strength. “I am thrilled that CIH Housing has signed a five year deal with Manchester Central so that we can continue to support the growth of this wonderful event.”

Event Director, Sarah Payling, said “We are delighted that our second edition in Manchester has proved so successful, with such a significant increase in both delegate numbers and our key event audience. The high quality of content and exhibitors has proved to be the perfect formula for drawing in senior decision makers from across the housing sector, and with 57% of the exhibition rebooked for 2014 we are already looking at ways to build on this year’s success.”

Grainia Long, CIH Chief Executive, said: “I’d like to say thank you to all the visitors, delegates, speakers and exhibitors that made Housing 2013 such an incredible success - it really is the place where business gets done. Our annual conference and exhibition is the biggest event in the housing calendar and we’ve had fantastic feedback about this year’s event, which we think was the best ever. With the housing industry facing some of its toughest times to date, the focus was very much on tackling those challenges to deliver the best service we can. I hope everyone went away armed with the information and inspiration they need to do just that.”

With housing high on the political agenda and the timely announcement of the spending review, the conference was packed with high level discussions on the challenges facing the sector including a ministerial session with Mark Prisk, Housing Minister. Talks by Lord Freud, Andy Rose, the new Chief Executive of HCA, and Rt Hon Lord John Prescott PC among others made for a lively and controversial week for the sector.

As time out of the office gets harder to justify, the exhibition ensured that there was a wealth of free content included for exhibition visitors, who were able to enjoy consultations with experts on sustainability at The Green Room, talk about key housing issues with professionals at The Hub and hear about a number of topics in free seminars at the Ideas Exchange, as well as sourcing new products and services.
