Dublin business tourism trade prepare for annual London sales workshopDublin business tourism trade will target significant new UK business as they travel to London this week for a high profile showcase and workshop event organised by Fáilte Ireland’s – (Ireland’s National Tourism Authority) Dublin Convention Bureau (DCB). The event, “Meet Dublin in London workshop”, is an annual initiative which has become a firm favourite in business tourism event bookers’ calendars and will once again involve an innovative on-board networking session on the Silver Sturgeon boat as it cruises along the River Thames.
The workshop allows UK meetings and events buyers to connect with Dublin hoteliers, venues and conference organisers. This year 39 Irish trade members will join together with Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Convention Bureau to represent the city and showcase the world class facilities that Dublin can offer business visitors to an elite group of over 125 UK decision makers.
Looking forward to events this week, Keith McCormack from Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Convention Bureau said – “Having pertinent Dublin tourism trade in the one room - and on the one boat - is a valuable opportunity for UK key decision maker to place their business events for the remainder of 2013 and beyond into future years.
“As an annual event, the ‘Meet Dublin in London’ workshop has become a firm fixture on the business tourism calendar and one that can’t be missed for both Irish trade and UK buyers alike. Many UK Buyers confirmed bookings for their clients. We are aiming for even greater success this year.”
The Dublin Convention Bureau is this year celebrating 10 years in operation and is continuing to attract high profile events to the city. Over the last four years alone almost €200 million of business has been secured for Dublin and a further €57 million is being targeted in 2013.
Detailing the work of the convention bureau, Mr McCormack continued – “From venue finding to site inspections, we are here to support conference organisers every step of the way – in essence we are a one stop shop for Dublin conferences.
“We are determined that Dublin is positioned firmly in the mix for every possible piece of international business to pitch for out there. We are competing with cities all over the world that all have something special and exciting to offer. Therefore it is imperative that we inspire the decision makers to want to come to Dublin and choose our city over our competitors.”
In addition, the convention bureau has just launched an online summer promotional campaign aimed at busy conference organisers in the UK. Targeting the organisers via digital marketing campaigns, the campaign will run until September. The website www.breakoutsessions.com features the award winning Dublin Convention Bureau promotional video that allows conference organisers to see and consider the million different things that make Dublin such a unique destination for future conferences.
