Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island celebrates its’ 40th Anniversary

The stunning family run 5-star Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island, located just off the West Coast Highlands of Scotland is this year celebrating its’ 40 year anniversary. The island and main house which itself dates back to1884 were purchased by the Buchanan-Smith family in 1973. Since then the island has undergone a continuous program of enhancement making it one of the most spectacular, tranquil and unique, luxury destinations in the UK..

Over the past 40 years owner Beppo Buchanan-Smith has restored the main house and added facilities such as the heated indoor swimming pool, an indoor driving range, a nine hole golf course, an ESPA Spa and two spacious bungalows that are now luxury spa suites with their own private hot tubs.

Eriska promotes itself as a very ‘green’ hotel that focuses on employing local people and Beppo Buchanan-Smith has worked hard to preserve and enhance the island’s wildlife such as the otters that inhabit the untouched beach. He has also built a heronry and created many nature trails complete with information points. The hotel, now a member of the prestigious group Relais & Chateaux has a sterling reputation as a ‘haven of tranquility’ where guests can escape their fast-paced lives for an ultra-luxurious break here in the UK and draws back regular guests year after year. Eriska is also home to a fabulous 3AA Rosette restaurant that is famed for its’ diverse menu of seasonal, fresh and local produce.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary the Buchanan-Smith family are placing a beautifully sculpted elegant bronze otter at ‘Otter Point’ on the west side of the island. This May the hotel ran a competition for guests and members of the public to name the otter and his/her name is soon to be revealed!

A three night package at the Isle of Eriska starts from £575 per person.
