The Big Bike Rides again at UniSpace Sunderland in hat-trick of repeat business wins

UniSpace Sunderland, the conference and events arm of the University of Sunderland, today announces a trio of repeat business wins: Sunderland’s Big Bike Ride; City Hospital Sunderland training event; and the three-week Youth Citizenship Scheme.
The annual Big Bike Ride makes its return to UniSpace Sunderland’s Sir Tom Cowie campus on 1st and 2nd June, where over 500 cyclists will gather to begin their ride. The route will take participants through the St Peter's Campus and past the iconic National Glass Centre, another of UniSpace Sunderland’s venues. Registration for the event will take place in the Prospect Building, where sports massages will also be available.

On 10th June, City Hospital Sunderland will be returning to UniSpace Sunderland to continue its series of training programmes, this time focusing on midwifery. This follows on from the Infection Prevention and Control training day that was held at the venue in November 2012, attracting over 100 delegates to the first event of its kind to be held outside the hospital.

Later in the year, The National Citizenship Scheme (NCS), a national initiative aimed at inspiring 16 and 17 year olds to be active citizens in their local communities, will hold three separate week-long events at UniSpace Sunderland beginning on 5th August, each with over 100 attendees. Each group will spend one week using UniSpace Sunderland’s Sir Tom Cowie Campus as a base for workshops, research, guest speakers, presentations and other activities.

Lester Crawford, NCS Project Coordinator and Event Organiser, commented: “We looked into several venues for our 2012 NCS residential events and settled on UniSpace, Sunderland because of its location and facilities: comfortable, secure accommodation and a range of well-equipped working spaces. The expertise and support of the UniSpace team helped make NCS 2012 successful and enjoyable, so it’s no surprise that Sunderland is our first choice for Summer 2013.”

Sharon Olver, Commercial Services Manager at UniSpace Sunderland, commented: “We are now in our second year of operation since launching to the national and international MICE markets and I am delighted that we are already able to announce three separate events returning to UniSpace in 2013.

“The team here work extremely hard to accommodate all client requests and adopt a ‘nothing is too much’ attitude. It is fantastic to see that this has been well received and we look forward to hosting more repeat business in the future.”

The repeat business wins follow the announcement last month that UniSpace Sunderland has been shortlisted for ‘Best Customer Service’ at the Conference Venue and Supplier Awards.
