Guildford Fringe Festival 2013

Taking inspiration from the Edinburgh Festival, the Guildford Fringe Festival is a celebration of the arts. It takes place between 1 and 28 July 2013, on a small scale for its first year with all the events taking place at the Star Inn on Quarry Street in the centre of Guildford.
The Festival will include theatre, cabaret, stand-up, quiz nights, comedy speakers, jazz, debates and musical theatre produced by some of the most up and coming companies around.

The confirmed acts so far include a new musical, Bang Out of Line; Lock In Cabaret (a combination of comedy, magic, music and burlesque); A Musical Movie Quiz; the stage version of Steptoe and Son; internationally acclaimed tenor Duncan Heather; debating with the Guildford Skeptics and comedy from Fairy Fruit Cake.

Nick Wyschna of the Guildford Fringe Theatre Company is the driving force behind the Festival and is creating this year’s event with a view to it being a regular fixture in the Guildford calendar. He intends to increase the number of performance locations in future years. He hopes that the July Guildford Fringe Festival will become a major event where performers preview their work before going on to the Edinburgh Festival in August.

Nick says “I have had such an incredible response since announcing the festival. I knew that Guildford was mad about the arts but I have been overwhelmed by people’s interest and support. Here’s to a great July’s Fringe Festival, and to many, many more.”
