New Scientist Live is a four-day festival of ideas and discovery rooted in the biggest, best and most provocative science that touches all areas of human life. With four immersive zones, the event will showcase how science, technology and engineering drive our economy, shape our culture and improve our lives.
Guidebook’s comprehensive app will provide New Scientist Live’s 30,000 attendees with all the information they need to know as well as interactive social sharing, opportunities to book seats in the theatres and see the line-up for the Main Stage.
New Scientist Live’s inaugural four-day event will be opened by British European Space Agency astronaut Major Tim Peake and will be bringing all aspects of science to life through spectacular shows, thought-provoking talks and immersive displays. As well as four themed areas covering Earth, Cosmos, Technology and Brain and Body, over 100 influential speakers including broadcaster Alice Roberts, physicist Jim Al-Khalili, astronomer Royal Martin Rees, neuroscientist Anil Seth and British space scientist Monica Grady CBE will attend the ground-breaking event. The show will also feature over 200 top exhibitors from the science and technology field.
Attendees will be able to download the Guidebook app in advance and access the complete agenda, speaker bios, exhibitor details, venue maps, an interactive social wall and information to plan their visit and make the most out of their day. Additionally, 50 per cent of all seats for main stage events can be pre-booked via the Guidebook app with the rest available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.
Wayne Morris, Vice-President, International at Guidebook comments: “We are incredibly excited to be involved in the first ever New Scientist Live and enhance the visitor experience with our Guidebook app before, during and after the event. The beauty of the Guidebook app is that the organisers can build it themselves with our full support and guidance to create one that is unique to them.
“With Guidebook’s new Mobile Admin feature, an industry first, the organisers will also be able to make any last-minute changes to the schedule or timings directly via their mobile phones on the app,” he adds.
Mike Sherrard, Event Director of New Scientist comments: “We needed our event app to be at the forefront of technology for the inaugural New Scientist Live, which explores and celebrates how science shapes our culture and improves our lives. We’re delighted to have worked with Guidebook to deliver this and we expect it to vastly enhance the visitor experience.”
