Flight connections go business class with new airline app

A new and innovative app, btrfly offers business travellers the opportunity to maximise their time and connect and network face-to-face at the airport.
Btrfly was designed to enable business travellers, entrepreneurs and consultants to achieve a greater return on the investment of their work trip by extending their professional network.

By entering their flight details into the app, users see a list of other passengers on the same flight and at the same airport. The app allows travellers to view potential contacts and makes it easy to connect and arrange to meet. The app is also a valuable time saving travel tool, and provides users with real-time flight information, including updates on any delays.

Whether you are travelling to a conference and looking to meet other attendees or simply want to share a cab from the airport, btrfly brings travellers together with the aim of encouraging greater connectivity in the empty time we’re all too familiar with at the airport. btrfly app features include:
• A list of other users names and occupations in close proximity
• Direct messaging feature to communicate with other users
• Option to connect and agree to share business lounge access
• Ability to connect with others attending the same conferences and events
• Newsfeed with user-generated content such as real-time information about security delays and the best business lounge tips

Cenk Gurz, btrfly CEO comments: “As a frequent traveller, I came to realise that air travel is an amazing opportunity to extend one's professional network. I met colleagues and even clients on flights, however it all depends on your luck - whether you’re sitting next to the right person in the lounge or on the flight. btrfly removes reliance on coincidence and provides business travellers with a tool that makes it easy to find interesting connections, and takes the awkwardness out of making the first move. We built the app and now we’re building an active hub for business travellers to engage with and in turn grow a new platform for networking.”

btrfly covers 380 airports around the world and all scheduled flights. The app is available to download on iOS from the App Store with the Android version due in the next few months.

The company is a member of The Traveltech Lab, a London-based incubator that supports the growth of travel technology companies. It is located within the riverside offices of London & Partners, the Mayor’s promotional company for London, and supported by Trampery.
