momondo sees 89% YoY increase in app bookings

As travel site relaunches its flight search app, improving user interface, design and functionality, adding new interactions

Travel site momondo has long-witnessed a steady growth in app search with click-throughs and bookings on app rising significantly year-on-year, at 89%. This growth suggest users are not just better at surveying the market via their mobiles, but are increasingly using their phones to book and pay for flights. Today, 60 % of momondo’s users have app as a touch point on their user journey.

App Refresh
To meet the demands of this increasingly mobile audience, momondo now rolls out new updates to its flights and hotels app, available on iOS and later on Android. The refreshed app includes improvements to user interface, design and functionality, together with the introduction of new interactions, overhauling the whole user experience. 

With a cleaner layout and new swiping functionality, the innovative digital experience is structured around the user. Users can start and pick-up where they left off in the app during any search and even sign up to momondo via the app for a more personal experience, logging preferences. Plus, the app now provides more tailored and targeted flight and hotel searches, with enhanced filter options such as Flight alliances, maximum travel times and hotel chains.

Mobile Product Manager at momondo, Pernille Trolle Brøgaard states: “Based on our data, consumers are increasingly using mobile apps to plan their travel around the world.  With the technology landscape evolving at a high speed pace, travellers are constantly seeking solutions that are not only progressive in nature, but at the same time provide a convenient and seamless travel booking experience. Our refreshed app will further improve the travellers’ user experience, enabling them to be their own best travel agent in finding the perfect flight or hotel while they’re on the go.”

The update is the first major change to the app’s design since 2014, and it´s changing the face of momondo as an app.
