Summer highlights at The Alpina Gstaad

The Alpina Gstaad exterior
The Alpina Gstaad has unveiled its summer programme of events and activities. This year, Gstaad will commemorate a number of important event anniversaries, allowing the region to showcase its prestigious status as a top summer destination.
The mountains of Gstaad will come alive with the synergy of music and food, with offerings including festival weekends, unique silent retreats, cooking workshops with Executive Chef Marcus G. Lindner, as well as unusual Alpine sports events. This summer will also mark the 100th anniversary Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad (25 July – 2 August) and the 20th anniversary of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad (13 – 16 August).

For the Culture Vulture
On 7 June, The Alpina Gstaad will have its official Summer Art opening. Guests can look forward to a walk through the beautiful gardens discovering contemporary art sculptures from Fabrice Gygi to the beats of Tchiki duo, who will be performing at 2:30pm, and whose performances are marked by emotions, originality and virtuosity. Following this, on 20 – 21 June Melodies at The Alpina Gstaad will be offering guests a combined dining and musical experience, where they will have the opportunity to indulge in a gourmet meal in one of the Hotel's restaurants while being entertained by Lise Dor, student of Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, who will be performing piano recitals from some of the most celebrated, world-renowned composers such as Haydn, Liszt and Chopin. Concerts will take place at 8:30pm on 20 June and 1:30pm on 21 June.

A brand new innovation concept also launches this summer as The Alpina Gstaad transforms two guest rooms into unique spaces: the first is the "Art Room" where guests will take the concept of live art to the next level, contributing to a canvas placed within a fully functioning suite, the second is the "Kiki de Montparnasse Love Suite" where guests can escape the daily life and discover the shades of pleasure in a private refuge.

For Foodies
From 6 – 30 June and 1 – 26 September, guests at The Alpina Gstaad can learn how to become a Michelin-starred chef, through private cooking workshops with two-Michelin-starred Executive Chef Marcus G. Lindner. For established chefs keen to improve their skills, or budding foodies looking to impress their family and friends, Chef Marcus Lindner will guide guests through some of his secrets of the culinary arts, creating their own self-made Michelin star dish and receive a special surprise gift. The two-hour workshops start from CHF 220 (approx. £150) per person, and can also be included in a package with over four hours of teaching in two days. A three-day package includes two nights in a Deluxe Room for two adults, welcome cocktail with the Chef, and a decadent five-course dinner at one Michelin-starred restaurant, Sommet, starting from CHF 2,450 (approx. £1,668 per person).

The 20th Davidoff Saveurs Gstaad Food Festival also takes place 26 June – 5 July. This ten-day fine dining event attracts gastronomes from all over the world, giving top local and internationally renowned chefs the chance to showcase their culinary knowledge. To celebrate the festival, Chef Marcus G. Lindner, Gault-Millau Switzerland Chef of the Year Peter Knogl, and Sommelier of the Year Jérôme Aké Béda will prepare an eight-course dinner at Sommet restaurant on 29 June. Reservations for the festival are available here.
