 The Queen is a big fan of Scotland, often spending time at her Scottish holiday home Balmoral. Kimpton Morrison House in Alexandria, Virginia will be making British guests feel at home when it re-opens the day before Her Majesty’s birthday, on 20 April 2016. Alexandria, founded by three Scottish tobacco merchants, is named after Scotsman John Alexander, who owned the land. Subtle nods to the Scottish heritage of the city will run throughout the hotel’s design and programming, with tartan carpets and a beverage program inspired by Alexandria’s founding in 1749, which emphasises popular spirits that hark back to its colonial roots, including rum, madeira and sherry.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Alexandria, Virginia
It is common knowledge that the Queen loves nothing more than dogs, especially her corgis. Kimpton Hotel Monaco Alexandria, also located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, sells a mini stuffed Scottie dog and accompanying book “Doggie Tails with Alex and Andria in Alexandria” by Patricia Palermino. The story is about two Scottish terriers as they take readers on a tour of Alexandria from the perspective of a dog. Old Town is in fact one of the most pet-friendly areas in the nation and Kimpton Hotel Monaco Alexandria extends this with a "Doggie Happy Hour".
