Showman's Show 2016 promises focus on innovation and sustainability

Showman's Show in full swing 2015
With the 2016 edition of the Showman's Show less than 24 hours away, organiser Lance Show & Publications is promising event professionals its strongest showing of innovative and sustainable solutions to date. Held at Newbury Showground, this Wednesday 19th October and Thursday 20th October, the Showman's Show is the UK's most comprehensive exhibition for the outdoor and special event industry.

This year's impressive exhibitor line-up boasts industry staples such as temporary structures, access equipment and support services, alongside entertainment ideas, technology providers and finishing touches. There are no fewer than 97 new companies amongst the 346 strong exhibitor list and almost 40 new products and services are set to launch over the two days. These include everything from a mobile exhibition stand within a shipping container and a mobile stage, to a Christmas tree rental and decorating service and unified ticketing booking hub.

What is also apparent is that sustainable solutions feature strongly within the new launches planned. Visitors to the Showman’s Show can expect to find a mobile solar charging can; LED tower lights; sustainable temporary water solution; solar powered arena lights and a recycling angels service, amongst them.

This focus on sustainability is something that organiser Lance Show & Publications Limited is keen to support and promote. Last year's Show saw the introduction of the Green and Innovation award, presented to the exhibiting company who demonstrated a genuine commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Judged by sustainability champion and chair of think-do tank Powerful Thinking, Chris Johnson, the popular award returns for 2016, with 13 exhibitors submitting entries. The entries have now been reviewed and a shortlist of six has made it through to the final stage of judging, they are: Genquip, Loowatt, Mobile Solar Chargers, Otter Vacuum LLP, Power Logistics and Star Events. The winner will be announced at the Show on Wednesday.

In addition, two of the campfire sessions, new to the Show for 2016, will be dedicated to sustainability. ‘Smart Power for Outdoor Events’ will take place at 10am on Thursday 20th October and ‘How to improve your recycling rates?’ will round the content programme off at 2pm that afternoon.

Johnny Lance, show organiser comments: “Showman’s Show is all about the exhibitors, our unique format allows them to showcase their products and services in a live environment. This year the exhibitor list is really impressive and it is great to have so many new, and existing, companies bringing along new and innovative products and services. The fact that so many of them are offering sustainable solutions or taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint is particularly pleasing and we’re more than happy to provide a platform to promote that.”
