The Conference and Hospitality Show (CHS) is the leading event in the north of England for everyone involved in the events industry. This year’s show has a wealth of education aimed at the professional organiser who wishes to advance their knowledge and career. The event management stage will host a series of one hour long mini conferences focused on winning business, careers, innovation and engagement.

Luke Flett of Ashfield Meetings and Events will present a session within the Innovation hour discussing the subject of positive disruption as a tactic to engage event stakeholders. Luke says: “Formats of meetings all too often follow the same predictable format. What if you challenged the status quo and turned the conference experience on its head, devising new ways to communicate with your audiences?” The session will focus on the power of disruptive thinking in developing more engaging content and creating higher value to the attendee.

Also during the Innovation hour, Jane Baker will be presenting a session discussing event trends. “A perfect storm of economic, technology and social trends is transforming the world of event marketing” explains Jane. “This changing marketing landscape is driving new opportunities for creating even more impactful events.”

Social media, mainly video and blogging, can increase engagement and ultimately increase delegate numbers. As part of the Engagement hour, Jonny Ross will be discussing how to increase engagement through video and blogging.

Also part of the Engagement hour, Miguel Neves will present a session exploring the social media engagement for IMEX. Miguel comments: “In a busy trade show environment there is great potential for engagement of attendees through the careful use of social media. An engaged attendee is an advocate, a trouble-shooter and an independent reporter for the show, all of which are very valuable.”

“The Internet has completely changed the job market and the way people are recruited. It’s even claimed that around 85 per cent of jobs are never advertised” says Emma Cartmell. In her session titled ‘Stand up, stand out and get the job you deserve,’ Emma tackles this issue and more during the Career hour. Taking tips from her forthcoming book, Emma discusses the visibility and viability organisers need and will disclose hints and tricks to put into practise. 

The third session of the Career hour comes from personal branding expert Jennifer Holloway. Author of ‘Personal Branding for Brits,’ Jennifer will be sharing her insights on the personal brand – what it is, why it’s important and how to use it – to help you tap into one of the most powerful career tools you have at your disposal.
