Southport launch business extension guide

‘Stay & Play’ at International Confex

Southport Conferences unveiled its first Stay & Play Guide at International Confex yesterday.  The guides, which come in print, digital and video format come off the back of the destination’s ground breaking research on business extensions; launched at the same exhibition last year.

Both event organisers and delegates will be able to download the guide through Southport’s dedicated Delegate Zone, found on Visitors will have the choice between a highly visual brochure and a series of videos, each looking at the many aspects of entertainment in the destination.  

“We’re delighted with the Stay & Play Guides, they make up a really easy to read / watch guide to the area for visiting event organisers and delegates,” comments Sammi Rudge, Conference Organiser at Southport. ”Each of the guides are segmented into themes that include, Arts & Culture, Shopping, Food & Drink, Golf and leisure, and of course our stunning beach.”  

Last year, the destination launched research that underlined an overwhelming thirst for business extension amongst delegates attending conferences in the UK and this prompted the destination to launch the Stay & Play campaign. Around 73% of respondents indicated that they would choose to stay on in a destination following a business trip with 61% opting to extend for between one and two days.  

The survey also showed that eating out was the most popular activity for extensions (72%), followed secondly with similar numbers being received for concerts, watching sports, shopping and visiting museums.  

Southport is exhibiting on stand CG41 at International Confex, and offering complimentary hand massages for those wishing for their own break from the busy exhibition.
