Community Pubs Minister to open PUB15

A week after the Government announced it is to support and make changes to the law to protect the Great British pub, Kris Hopkins MP, Community Pubs Minister confirms he will open PUB15, the new trade show dedicated to the UK’s pub sector.
Taking place at Olympia on 18th and 19th February 2015, PUB15 is the must-attend, free event for anyone connected with Britain’s on-trade, aiming to provide the modern day publican and pub entrepreneur with access to the leading lights within the sector, key exhibitors, trend setters and industry peers.

Commenting on the importance of the pub industry to the UK and his appearance at PUB15, Hopkins says: "The Great British pub is a national treasure playing an important role in the social and cultural fabric of the nation, while providing thousands of jobs and a substantial boost to the economy.

"That is why this Government has done everything it can to help them thrive and prosper. We have already cut duty on a pint, abolished the unpopular beer and alcohol duty escalators, reduced business taxes for pubs, removed red tape to make it easier to play live music and armed people with the power to list their local as an asset of community value.

“Therefore I am delighted to attend a show which aims to support the sector and secure pubs for future generations.”

Hopkins will formally open PUB15 at 10am on Wednesday 18 February followed by a show-round of the event, where he will have the chance to speak directly to visitors and exhibitors and the opportunity to be interviewed by press.

Tim Etchells, Managing Director at Single Market Events, the organisers behind PUB15 adds: “We are privileged to have Kris Hopkins MP open the show. His appearance enhances the credentials of the key speakers and industry representatives already involved with PUB15. From major pubco MDs to the leading senior figureheads from within the sector, we have been delighted by the support and enthusiasm that has been generated from the launch of the show.”
