Visitors to Just a Drop’s giant tap stand in the main boulevard will be asked to make a small donation in exchange for a stylish, reusable water filter bottle, kindly donated by H2WOW!.
In return, free water refills will be available from a range of ‘water stations’ around the site, which are being hosted by the following exhibitors including Pearl Marketing, Chic Outlet Shopping, PATA, Myanmar Tourism Marketing, Hotelogix, Oman Ministry of Tourism and Rixos Egypt.
The water stations will be highlighted on a special ‘water map’ and the free refills will be available throughout the duration of WTM.
The campaign is being sponsored by H2WOW!, cdt associates, SOUK and Cooperative Food.
Just a Drop was founded by Fiona Jeffery OBE at WTM in 1998, as a way of encouraging the travel industry to give back to the communities in which it operates. The charity provides clean water and sanitation facilities to some of the poorest communities around the world and aims to address the shocking statistic that a child dies every 20 seconds from a water-related disease.
Fiona says, “Our ‘Use Water, Give Water’ campaign is a very simple and easy way to engage the travel and tourism industry whilst raising awareness of the crucial role water plays in all our lives. We all need to keep ourselves hydrated during a busy exhibition, and through visitors and exhibitors taking part in this campaign, vital funds will also be raised to help communities around the world, for whom safe drinking water is scarce. In fact, for every £1 donated, Just a Drop will be able to provide clean water to a child for up to 10 years”.
